TNPTI EKG Technician Course

GOAL

The goal of this course is to give EKG students the knowledge and experience they need in conjunction with the standards of Tennessee to become a trained and employable EKG Technician. TNPTI’s EKG program is designed to provide its students with a superior education including small classes, experienced teachers and externship hours so that they may gain the skills and understanding needed for the profession.

LEARNING OBJECTIVES:

Over the course of this 48-hour program, students will learn:

•         The role of the EKG Technician
•         How to take vital signs
•         Understanding blood pressure variations
•         Understanding respiratory rate
•         Understanding heart rates and variations
•         Understanding the anatomy of the human heart
•         Understanding the parts and functions of the cardiovascular system
•         Understanding the history of electrocardiography
•         The components of an EKG
•         How to prepare a patient for an EKG
•         How to properly apply the EKG leads
•         How to complete the EKG procedure from start to finish
•         How to interpret the results of the EKG
•         Understanding common cardiovascular medical conditions

INSTRUCTIONAL MATERIALS

The $1600 ($1300 tuition + $300 materials) tuition includes the cost of materials and equipment. Students are required to purchase their own set of scrubs (we require black) and the textbook for the course.

Attendance Requirement

TN Professional Training Institute's is an intensive, accelerated, 40 Hour program. Arriving late or leaving early may be considered an absence. Students who miss more than one class will be dismissed and may be moved to the next session at the discretion of the instructor.

Grading Policy

Students are required to maintain an 80% average to pass this course. If an 80% average is not maintained, students may have to repeat materials before completing the course.
