Admission Requirements
Students wishing to enroll in the Medical Assisting program must:
- Be at least 18 years of age or older
- Have a high school degree or GED/HISET equivalent
- Have a clear criminal record
- Be willing and able to work with patients while giving the best patient care possible.

Course Outline
Goal
The goal of this course is to give Medical Assisting – Clinical Medical Office Assistant program students the knowledge and experience they need in conjuction with the standards of Tennessee to become a trained and employable Medicial Assistant. TNPTI’s Medical Assisting – Clinical Medical Office Asistant program is designed to provide its students with a superior education including small classes and experenced teachers so that they may gain the skills and understanding needed for the profession.
Learning Objectives
- Perform a thorough medical history
- Record the reason for the visit and the presenting symptoms
- Take and record vital signs
- Prepare patients for examination
- Assist physicians with patient examinations
- Prepare blood samples for laboratory tests
- Preform EKG’s
- Explain medical procedures
- Communicate appropriately with patients
- Complete administrative tasks in the offices of physicians and other healthcare facilities
Attendance Requirement
TN Professional Training Institute’s Medical Assisting training program is an intensive, accelerated, 160-hour program. Students who miss any class time may be dismissed or moved to the next session at the discretion of the instructor. *Arriving late or leaving early may result in an absence.
Grading Policy
Students are required to manintain an 80% average to pass this course. If an 80% average is not maintained, students may have to repeat materials before completing the course.
